How Bidvana scores condition

Five facets, scored by the person who held the unit: how it looks, whether it works, what’s included, its cleanliness and its packaging. There is no overall grade above them, because the five scores are the condition. Inspection reports include the checks, photos and notes behind every one of them. If we described its condition inaccurately or missed something during inspection, return it within 3 days of delivery for a full refund. Final-sale items are marked clearly.

How we score

One overall word is a summary, and a summary hides things. So an inspected unit is scored on five separate facets, and those five scores ARE the condition: we publish no grade above them. The report on the product page shows every one of them, with the inspector's note and the photo behind it.

  • Cosmetic

How it looks: marks, scuffs, dents, cracks.

  • Functional

Whether it works, when a technician powered it on.

  • Completeness

Whether everything that belongs in the box is there.

  • Cleanliness

How clean it was when we got to it.

  • Packaging

What it ships in: a factory seal, a retail box, or ours.

Each facet is scored on the same five words. The inspector picks the word, not a number, and these are the words they pick from.

5No marksFully worksEverything presentSpotlessFactory sealed

3Visible wearPartial functionMissing a minor accessoryNeeds a wipeRetail box, worn
2Heavy wear, dentsMajor faultMissing a major accessoryHeavy grime or odorRetail box, damaged
1Damaged or crackedDeadMissing a core partPermanent stain or odorNo box

A facet nobody could judge is marked not assessed rather than scored. Nothing is assumed in our favor: a unit nobody powered on reads as not tested on the product page, never as working. Items with no function to test, like a vase, are marked not applicable and the Function row is left off.

What qualifies as Bidvana Best

Inspected items qualify when they have no cosmetic marks, fully work, are spotless, and have everything present or only a trivial item missing. Items with no function to test count as passing Functional. Box and packaging condition does not affect Bidvana Best. We disclose it separately.

A low score comes with a photo

Any facet scored 3 or lower has to carry a photo of that exact thing, taken while the unit was in the inspector's hands. The product page publishes it beside the row it belongs to, so a claim about wear or a missing part is something you can look at rather than take our word for.

What “Inspected” means

There are no inspection tiers. An item either went through the bench or it did not. When it did, all of this happened:

  • Photo evidence

At least one photo of the actual unit, labelled with what it shows and displayed in full on the product page.

  • Completeness check

Original box, manuals and accessories are recorded as observed, not as the manifest claims.

  • Human inspection

A technician records the condition of the actual item and documents the checks performed.

  • The report, published

Every inspected item's product page carries its report: checks, evidence photos and the inspector's notes.

Items without the mark are not mystery boxes. They carry our pre-inspection assessment from the seller's manifest and what our team saw at receiving. It is an honest starting point that we stand behind exactly the same way.

Not yet inspected

We list inventory as soon as it is received, so plenty of items are for sale before the bench has seen them. Here is exactly what you are buying when that is the case.

The condition is an assumption

Nobody has scored the five facets yet. What we have is the seller's manifest and what our team saw when the unit was received and photographed. Nobody has powered it on or bench-tested it, and the product page says so in place of a report.

Where the price comes from

A percentage of the retail price we track for that product, adjusted for the condition it is listed as. How big the discount is depends on the category: things that sell quickly carry a smaller one.

If an inspection finds an issue

If an inspection finds the item is worse than described, we show you the findings and any adjusted price before you decide whether to keep it or cancel.

Ask us to check it first

At checkout you can ask us to inspect the unit before it ships and email you the report. It is free and it adds a day or two. You can tell us what to look at while you are there.

If that inspection scores it lower

If that inspection scores it lower than it was listed, you choose: keep it at the price for the condition we found, computed the same way the listing was priced, and we refund the difference, or cancel for a full refund. Final-sale items are marked as such before you buy.

That choice is for a unit that turned out to be worse than described. Changing your mind is not one of the options here. Buyer's remorse is not covered by our return policy.

The guarantee

The condition is a promise, whether or not the item was inspected. If we scored it wrong or missed something during inspection, return it within 3 days of delivery for a full refund. The one exception is a unit with a major fault, a crack or a missing core part: that one is sold final sale, labelled Final sale everywhere it appears, and spelled out in full on the product page and at checkout.
